In these three readings I see that there is something in common: it is movement. In the first reading, movement is the journey [itself]; in the second reading, movement is in the up-building of the Church. In the third, in the Gospel, the movement is in [the act of] profession: walking, building, professing.

What is the mission of the Catholic Church? Is it world domination, complete control or the New World Order? All these hypothesis have negative connotations and have paranoid many people, but those are not the mission. The church is solely in existence to teach and nurture us human beings how to create a faithful relationship with God.

The 85-year-old Pope Benedict XVI’s resignation due to health concerns is a shock. First reaction by many people is disbelief and wonder. "What is going on in Rome?" "What is the real reason the pope is stepping down?" The pope’s resignation will take effect at 8 p.m. Rome time on Feb. 28. No pope has stepped down after Pope Celestine V in the 13th century. I believe that what the pope said in his official statement, he really is aware of his physical and mental capacities and he just can't serve.
