Pope Benedict XVI is Retiring

The 85-year-old Pope Benedict XVI’s resignation due to health concerns is a shock. First reaction by many people is disbelief and wonder. "What is going on in Rome?" "What is the real reason the pope is stepping down?" The pope’s resignation will take effect at 8 p.m. Rome time on Feb. 28. No pope has stepped down after Pope Celestine V in the 13th century. I believe that what the pope said in his official statement, he really is aware of his physical and mental capacities and he just can't serve.

What will be exciting is to follow what happens next. The famous conclave, presided by the College of Cardinals in Rome. What color will the smoke be? What does that mean? There are many questions to what will unfold in the coming month or so. But, there is one great question left to ask.

Will the next pope, like the very first pope, be a married man?
